Like I’ve said, I’m having a hard time keeping up blogging. The pictures are still happening though, which is good, right?
Here is a recap from the last 13 days:

I’m having quite a difficult time keeping up with posting pictures. It’s been a very strange week.
Day 82:

Day 83:

Cant beat the feelin
Day 84:

Playing a lot more guitar lately. It’s been good to have another creative outlet.
Day 85:

I was really happy with this one. The frame that the staircase created and Caitlin’s posture are the things I really like about it. I feel like this one has a lot more depth than any of these other ones in the post.

Day 86:

They’re just hanging out

Note: I titled this “My Hammer” but it is not actually my hammer. Read the last paragraphs for explanation.
Day 80:
The Feast! The Frenzy!

Self. (800th picture on flickr)

Let us sit and watch the snow, as we hypothermiate.

It’s seriously SERIOUSLY cold out. I walked to work (about a third of a mile, not a big deal) this morning. It was 1 degree outside. Weather.com said “Feels like -14.” It is an experience.
Oh wait, yes, we still have our Christmas lights up.
Day 81:

I titled this one “When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”.
The more I think about it, the more I see instances in my life where my single mindedness has led me to just do what I always do to fix a problem. Seriously, sometimes like “fix” like “I’m going to the hardware store, need to fix somethin’” sort of fix, and like, “Ugh, I gotta fix this issue with so and so”.
I think the common route is retreat. For others and me. Sometimes it’s just easier to wait things out. I want to be proactive though.
Anyways. (I want to always say anyways now because it bugs my sister [should be anyway])
So, what’s your hammer?

Day 79:

I was definitely inspired. Though my cut outs fall infinitely short of said inspiration, I thought I’d play around with it and see how it could manifest through my lens. A fun experiment for sure. I’ll probably revisit it sometime soon, since I spent money to get a decent exact-o knife.
I suppose these wouldn’t be “mixed media” since they end up merely digital (or printed at best), maybe “multi-step media”? Thoughts?

And then this one if from the other day, but it fit with the others so I thought I’d lump it in.

Day 76:

Quiggle! It’s a word I invented for Scrabble. Definition: A word to win scrabble with. (Dont worry, I didn’t actually use it. My friend found me out)
Day 77:

Some of my friends say I look like Sloth from Ice Age. Some friends are rude.
Day 78:

Now on to some pictures I’m really happy with. I cut this out from a sheet of regular paper with an exacto knife. I’m really happy with the depth of field here and the composition of it.
Out take:

This is frost from my bathroom window. I thought it looked amazing and kind of like feathers.

This meal is tradition. Pork, sauerkraut, and black eyed peas (bonus this year: mashed potatoes and PBR). I’ve had this meal for New Year’s every year since I can remember. I thought it was pretty common (at least the pork and sauerkraut) but almost none of my friends had even heard of this.
Luckily, Lis had a friend, Liz, visiting from out of town. In conversation she mentioned that her dad was disappointed she wouldn’t have her good luck meal on New Years. So, it just turned out that there was actually someone else with the tradition! Anyways, I already bought the pork and black eyed peas, so after we saw Sherlock Holmes, we got the sauerkraut and are prepared for the new year.
Anyway.
Here is my first beer of the New Year:

After dinner, we went on a tour of Columbia’s finest trees (Big Tree and Magic Tree).
Magic Tree:

Lis and Liz at Magic Tree:

Bokeh shot:

Brian and I:

And then we went to Big Tree!

Not the best shot… It was too cold to stay out very long at all. I shot this from the car.

So, I put my name on the fridge. “Keith”. Then I came back a while later and it said “Keith wishes you a merry new year”. Then on new year’s day it said “Keith wishes you a mary poppins”. Then by time I got around to taking the picture it said “Keith wishes you a mary poopins.” Yeah… I dont know.
